Atorvastatin tabs help in lowering bad cholesterol and fat and raise good cholesterol in the blood. It belongs to a group of drugs known as ‘statins’.

When should I it?
Use atorvastatin  with diet, weight loss, and exercise to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke. Also, this will help you  decrease the chance that heart surgery will be needed in people who have heart disease or who are at risk of developing heart disease.
Side effects of atorvastatin include:
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms such as diarrhea.
  • Cold symptoms such as a runny or stuffy nose.
  • Joint pain.
  • Insomnia.
  • Urinary tract infection.
  • Nausea.
  • Loss of appetite.
  • Indigestion symptoms such as stomach discomfort or pain.
What foods should be avoided when taking atorvastatin?
While taking the drug,  avoid high-fat and high-cholesterol foods as part of your overall treatment. Also,  avoid large quantities of grapefruit or grapefruit juice, which can increase the risk of serious side effects. You should also avoid alcohol use, as this may cause serious liver problems.

Statins such as atorvastatin (Lipitor) are a popular medication class used to treat high cholesterol or lower your risk of heart disease. The muscle pain statins may cause can keep you up at night
