Stool Culture Test Analysis is used to analyse stool samples with  the goal of establish if one has been infected by parasites in the digestive tract. A stool culture for pathogenic bacteria is also included.

The test is often used to:

  1. Identify diseases of the digestive tract, liver, and pancreas and
  2. Screen for colon cancer by checking for hidden (occult) blood.
  3. Certain enzymes (such as trypsin or elastase) may be evaluated in the stool to see the pancreas functionality.
  4. Finding the cause of an infection, such as bacteria, a fungus, or a virus even for parasites, such as pinworms or Giardia.
  5. Check for poor absorption of nutrients by the digestive tract (mal-absorption syndrome).
