Zupricin B Ointment treats certain skin infections  such as impetigo. It is an antibiotic that works by stopping the growth of certain bacteria.

Zupricin, also known as Mupirocin prevents bacteria from growing on your skin.  Also, Zupricin B ointment works for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

Can I use Zupricin B ointment on an open wound?
MUPIROCIN ointment contains polyethylene glycol. Talk to your doctor before using this medicine if you: • have kidney problems • have large areas of open wounds or damaged skin to be treated. The ointment contains butylated hydroxytoluene (E 321) and may cause local skin reactions.
What are the side effects of Zupricin B ointment?
Side Effects
  • Blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin.
  • canker sores.
  • cracked, dry, scaly skin.
  • pain, swelling, tenderness, warmth on the skin.
  • sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or tongue or inside the mouth.
What happens if you use mupirocin for more than 10 days?
Do not use for more than 10 days. If your skin condition does not improve within 3 to 5 days, see your doctor. A yeast infection of moist areas of the body may develop if Bactroban is used for a long time. On the skin this looks like bright red spots which may be very itchy.
